Divergance and Convergence

Divergence and Convergence
Divergence
Dear Parent/Carer
It it my pleasure to inform you that myself and many other members of my team here at Hymers College have noticed a significant improvement in Lewis's attitude and work he is currently producing throughout all of this subjects. His co-operation with his subject teachers within the classroom has meant that the quantity and also the quality of the work in which he is produces has really enhanced. Lewis is now achieving above his target grades in many of his subjects and has recently been noticed for his excellent science project which was completed over the summer holiday. He achieved a A is this particular project which is a great improvement from his last project he was set to do over the Easter break where he had only received a D for the work he produced.

Lewis has received star of the fortnight in both Science and Product Design which is something he should be extremely proud of. It is very clear to see that Lewis is really pushing himself to do well this year and has also been attending several workshops and revision sessions at lunch times and after school. This is something that we encourage all of our students to do here at Hymers Collage and we are very pleased to see that Lewis is one of those students to take advantage of the help available.

If you would like any more feedback on Lewis's progress or have any questions you would like to be answered please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely
Miss Chloe Lansdown

Convergence
Dear Parent/Carer
I am extremely disappointed to have to inform you about Lewis's appalling behavior and attitude within and outside of the classroom. Not to mention his attendance which has greatly decreased over the course of the last few weeks and is now only at 64.3% which is significantly bellow the recommend requirements.

On Tuesday 24th of November Lewis provoked a vicious attack on another student during his Drama Lesson which resulted in the other pupil left with a broken nose and a fractured collarbone. Unfortunately, this is not the only incident which has occurred recently, during his art lesson on Thursday 19th of November he became angry and got very vocal towards his teacher; Mr.Collins in which he used inappropriate language and threatened to harm Mr. Collins, and i quote 'Shut the fuck up before i beat you to the floor!'  Violence is something that we do not tolerate here at Hymers Collage and we do take incidents like this very seriously.

I am aware that you were informed of the previous incident which occurred 19th of November but with the events that have followed myself and my team have came to the decision that Lewis will be excluded from attending college until further notice. Appropriate school work for all of his subjects will be provided during the length of his exclusion which will be emailed in stages to Lewis's school email. This course of action has been taken as Lewis puts students and teachers at risk of being harmed and he is also a danger to himself. I do hope that you understand our decision to follow this course of action and i hope this period of time away from college will give Lewis time to think about what has happened.

I have arranged for a meeting to be held with myself and the Senior Leadership Team on the 2nd of December at 9:25am to discuss the previous incidents and the next course of action we decide to follow. It is vital that Lewis and his parent/carer attend in order for the meeting to pursue. If you are unable to attend this meeting please contact me immediately to rearrange for another date.

Yours sincerely
Miss Chloe Lansdown
